Porsche 911 Targa 4
The new Porsche 911 Targa 4 is due out in October 2008 at a price starting around £72,000. Two versions will be available: the Porsche
911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S, both with four-wheel-drive.
The Porsche 911 Targa 4 is distinguished with its glass sliding roof. This gives drivers and passengers an open-air experience. The two-piece roof features specially-treated glass to cope with harsh UV rays. However, when the sun's not so glaring, the roof slides back in just seven seconds.
The Porsche 911 Targa 4 also has the new PDK double clutch and direct fuel injection. The Porsche 911 Targa 4 has a 3.6-litre engine giving 345 bhp.
The Targa 4 will benefit from Porsche's Traction Management (PTM) system which delivers power to all four wheels via a mechanical limited slip differential.
Porsche says that the new Porsche 911 Targa 4 has got a facelift and some mechanical upgrades. Saying that the new model will cut fuel consumption by more than 10 per cent and the direct fuel injection increases power by more than 8 per cent.
The Porsche 911 Targa 4 accelerates from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 176mph. Gear changes are almost instant and a Porsche 911 Targa fitted with PDK (a £2,338 option) is claimed to be 0.2 seconds faster from 0-62mph than a manual car.
Other improvements include making the Porsche’s centre console compatible with Bluetooth communications and this console can
connect with USB and iPod devices.
